Osmania University has taken its next major step in promoting startups, innovation and entrepreneurial skills by launching Technology Business Incubator at UCE (A). OU on 22nd November 2016 under the name OUCE IDEA LABS FOUNDATION. The Alumni Association has played an instrumental role in bringing the incubation centre to reality with end to end consulting and implementation support. The incubation centre is located in first floor of Technology Development Centre (TDC) in UCE campus, Osmania University.
The Incubation centre was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Prof. A. Venu Gopal Reddy. Vice Chancellor, JNTU (H) and the event was presided by Prof. S. Ramchandram, Vice Chancellor. Osmania University. Mr. Devendra Surana. Managing Director of Bhagyanagar India Limited. Director of Surana Solar Limited & Chairman for FICCI Telangana State Council and Mr. Brig. P Ganesham. Founder, Palle Srujana & Coordinator for HoneyBee Network graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.
Prof. S. Sameen Fatima, MD and CEO, Idea Labs Foundation and Principal, UCE (A). OU gave an overview on the college and its infrastructure and resources that can support the incubation centre. Dr. E.Vidya Sagar. TEOIP II Nodal Officer (Procurement) gave an overview of the work done till date with the support of TEOIP funds.
Mr. Praveen Dorna. Chief Operation Officer (COO) gave an overview on the vision of the incubation centre and the next steps. The incubation centre is launching with three innovations that are in the process of being developed into commercial ventures.
One of the innovations "Innovation in Rotation Technology, is headed by Mr. Chandrashekhar (B.E. 1991 ECE) and is currently in talks with National and International Companies for commercialization.
The start-up incubator will act as a platform for the students, faculty, alumni the external start-up community to work on their ideas through technological assistance. mentorship. access to funding and start-up resources. Located in the heart of the city and backed by solid college infrastructure and a highly successful global alumni base. the incubation centre plans to build a solid platform for helping ideas shape into commercial ventures through the right kind of support system and mentorship in addition to commercializing research from college.
The incubation centre is launched with 2,000 Sq ft built up space with 3 cabins spanning 24 desks and office space for management and meeting rooms. To ensure the start-up incubator realizes its best potential, an advisory board with highly knowledgeable and eminent industry professionals from across various verticals is being formed. Various members of the start-up ecosystem have attended the event and showed their support for the latest and yet to be most successful incubator in town.
